All he wants for Christmas is a PhD

My last work trip of the year has been to Sheffield University to act as the external examiner for a PhD student. The internal examiner and I grilled chatted with the student in this room for two hours this morning.

A little later we were able to tell the student that he had passed subject to some minor corrections to the thesis. Congratulations (and a happy Christmas) all round!
