Marsh Frog
A very unusual loud noise welcomed us at Top Hill Low nature reserve, I enquired to a warden what it was. Marsh frogs, wow never heard or seen these before. In full breeding style the noisy bull frogs blew out their cheeks and made the amazing noise in an attempt to attract a female.
Apparently these European frogs were introduced to the UK in the 1930's and have since colonised.
The trip to THL was made on our way for a few more days away, this time to Bempton, in East Riding of Yorkshire, to get our annual fix of gannet watching. We arrived on the cliff tops to watch the sun go down, a lovely start. In extra is a short eared owl spotted on the cliffs and a boat sailing into the night.
