Restoration

I've had this monk's bench for some years, but it's always looked almost black with layers of dark varnish. So today seemed a good time to get it outside and begin the long job of stripping off the varnish and showing more of the details beneath. It's going to be quite fiddly to clean round the lions, but I like a project! The top of a monk's bench, which unfortunately in my case has a split in it, can pivot to a vertical position and becomes the back of the chair or settle.
