The Long Road North

Somehow expected BH weekend traffic hell but in fact I’ve rarely seen the A1 so dead. Arrived in the hills in under 4.5 hours and in good time for an excellent ‘second breakfast’ at the Organic Farm Cafe off the A66. Way to early to check in to our lodgings, we diverted to Acorn Bank and arrived well timed for a brilliant tour of the house followed by a wander round the charming gardens and woodland walk to the water mill. Then a few ciders in the beer garden of the Black Swan and time to relax.
