IF YOU GO DOWN TO THE WOODS TODAY....
Well OK our garden. The Bears were having a great time helping Hubby with the gardening. If you look closely you can just about see their little specialist tools they have to use!!!?? This is my entry for Silly Saturday, hope it's OK. The bears are, left to right - Bobles, Grizzbear, L'al Ratty ('cos that'where he was born) and Hamish the dog.
I was going to do a nice landscape shot unfortunately we had a bit of a drama today in Grange and this is an emergency blip. Everything OK now though.
Our friend G who comes to us for respite quite regularly, among his several conditions is a neurological one which causes dizzy spells, which he lives with all the time. Sometimes they get so intense that he practically collapses. I can't tell you how many times we've had to change plans, travel arrangements etc for this. It can't be helped it's just something he has to live with. Unfortunately his surgery and the hospitals in Edinburgh have said there is nothing more they can do, I suspect if he could afford to pay for it they'd continue testing, but he can't so that is it.
When he gets these in Edinburgh it is extremely difficult as he lives in a third floor flat with no lift. Luckily his brother is to hand and can usually sort him out. The citizens and visitors of 'Edinburgh however, just look at him and glare 'cos they think he's either on drugs or drunk. It's obviously just because it's a very busy city. The odd one that offers to help always tries to get an ambulance, sadly we've learned that this is no good as he then sits in A&E for hours and by the time he's seen the episode is over, even though he's supposed to be treated as a priority due to being on permanent Warfarin.
Well today in Grange everyone was amazing, so kind and helpful - I knew I loved it up in this area and today has definitely confirmed that. I'd left him in Daisy Roots (book shop) whilst I went and sorted something out just across the road. As the spell came on unexpectedly (usually he gets warnings, but occasionally not), he staggered out of the shop and found a bench up the road to sit on. He then decided to try and come back to the shop when he saw me going in. He collapsed into the doorway. By this time his head was nodding and he was losing his speech and slurring (this is a normal bad episode, so I'm used to dealing with it).
Several people came to help, one man went out of his way to get a chair organised, calling in a couple of shops before they found one in Daisy Roots. Several offered to call for help and an ambulance, but I explained not to do this (although I was getting very close to saying yes). A very nice couple said they would stay with him whilst I fetched the car so I could pick him up right outside the shop. Which I duly did.
I did thank them all but think I will write to Grange Now and put a thank you in there too as I can't emphasise enough how grateful I was.
I managed to get him home, Hubby came out to help get him indoors, and after having several sips of water, a snooze and a rest he's OK again now, a bit shaky but that is normal.
Drama over for today. I've tried talking to his surgery about what I can do to help but they don't really know and just say to do what I'm doing!!?? Sadly the Doctor (a Professor) who was his GP has now retired and he know longer gets a dedicated doctor who knows him.
Hope you're all well and enjoying the sunshine and not having any dramatic episodes.
