Friday: Burns 1899
Easter and a four day weekend means travelling and exploring. We loaded up the car, made sandwiches and a flask and drove 8 hours to Nelson, in the eastern Kootenays. The drive was lovely, interesting and variable in weather.
We find that since we moved to Canada our attitude to travelling has completely changed. Driving 8 hours seems to make perfect sense, whereas in the UK we probably would have fainted at the thought of driving more than a couple of hours for a long weekend. Still, sitting on the M25 is also a pretty different experience.
We arrived at our very nice Airbnb, and walked the short distance into town to the nearest microbrewery (naturally). As usual, we got chatting to people, this time Harley and Sasha who relocated here from Calgary 6 months ago. They've given us loads of good tips.
