Green Hairstreak + Green Veined White
I’d been ignoring the small insects that fluttered around my feet as I walked the Danby Moor path this morning. In the end I noticed where this one settled and was amazed to find a Green Hairstreak (I didn’t know they were so small). Then in the afternoon we walked through the birch woodland between Castleton and Danby (Danby Park), where I spotted several small white butterflies flitting among the woodland plants. This one had found a home on the Greater Stitchwort, so I thought I had a chance of a photograph. I think it’s a Green-veined white, even though the markings are black. So the greens `have it’ today!
