Ribwort Plantain

One of the most common British and European plants - known to have existed during the Stone Age when tree clearance started.  Even if mown or grazed close to the ground the plant flourishes for it regrows from the bottom of the plant.  Children used to use the heads in a game similar to conkers but the stem can be wound round the head and by pulling it sharply the head can be fired fairly accurately.
