Popolo Pooh

This is the church of Santa Maria del Popolo on the Piazza del Popolo. This square is next to one of the main city gates so would have greeted travellers when they arrived in the city, possibly with the sight of a public execution, as these took place here.

Less grisly events happen here now - there was someone dressed as Winnie the Pooh and an overwhelming smell of horse urine. Although that last one may not have changed much over the centuries.
