Visitor

This, I believe, is a Double-crested Cormorant.  He flew in rather dramatically and made me very sorry I couldn't get to my camera fast enough.  They're not unusual around here but I don't see them land in "my pond" very often.  I love the way they seem to ride low in the water with their long necks sticking up.  They remind me of the loch ness monster or a submarine, either of which would certainly be more of a surprise than a cormorant.
