The promise of things to come

A long day out for Alex and I, undertaking the first stage of a vegetation survey of Shenley Wood in Milton Keynes. Temperatures of 18C were a shock to the system after the recent spell of chilly weather, but were very welcome. Among the many woodland plants we recorded, were several groups of Early Purple Orchid. We foundsome in full bloom, but I rather the like the perfection of these buds, which are such an intense shade of pink.
