A New Day

Weeping Pear Tree

Identified in the A K Bell Library garden by my friend L. when I met her there for a coffee this morning.  Sometimes also known as Weeping Willow Pear Tree, Pendulous Weeping Pear Tree or Silver Weeping Pear Tree and many others too.  Take your pick, but there are two of them at the Library (see Extra) and they are both beautiful.  The blossom starts to open at the end of the branches and works its way up, so it will be even lovelier soon.  Sadly, the pears are inedible, but you can't expect everything from a tree!

After putting the world to rights, we did a bit of shopping for fabrics for an upholstery project she wants to do soon and I was very amused when she chose a fabric almost identical to the curtains I had made up at the end of last year:-)  We obviously share great taste.

Lunch followed at the newly refurbished Manna House (it's run by a church group, so that's not a mis-spelling!) before she caught her bus home and I did some more shopping before TJ picked me up in town for a visit to the supermarket.  A most enjoyable day and by the afternoon, the long awaited sunshine broke through the mist and it was beautifully warm for a change.  About time too:-)
