Across the fields

We needed eggs so decided to walk down to the smallholding where we buy them.  As it was a lovely warm day we decided to go across the fields rather than along the road.  This stretch is an ancient right of way that was never adopted as a modern road, but still follows a distinct path between the fields skirting the village.  Some of the hedgerows have been removed over the years leading to gates that are still in position with signs saying they must be kept shut, but which wouldn't close off anything if they were!
