Back door...

to the Bell Tower. It was built by one of the Covenanters, Alexander Brodie, in the seventeenth century. It was used as a prison amongst other things. The bell rings out across quite an area and was used for emergencies.
Recently, a path has been created through the wood to approach from the rear, saves climbing the very steep steps up to the front.
It features in Maurice Walsh's book 'And no Quarter'. The rallying call for the Covenanters was ,Jesus and no Quarter'. However, the publishers told Mossie that a book would not sell with a name like that.
It was one of those still, soft, calm and grey days of early Spring.
