Orkney

Off for a hike around the coast with the dog off the lead which was absolutely great, until he found a gannet. Still blowing a gale and raw cold but the bunnet and gloves and windproof jacket were on so it was grand. Murdo didn't seem to notice, too many beach sniffs to investigate. We came across loads of World War II concrete gun emplacements, bunkers, shelters and buildings. The islands are covered in them, being of critical strategic importance during the war.

A lunch was called for en-route and the wonderful Sheila Fleet Kirk Café hove into view. An Orkney platter did not disappoint.

If the wind drops tomorrow more coastal romps, if not might do some craft stuff with friends kids.
