Graffiti
One of many roles I take on at the local council is representing the environmental health service on the Community Safety Partnership. This is a statutory body required under the Crime & Disorder Act 1998 to bring together the local council, police, fire service, health and probation services to tackle local crime issues.
An issue dealt with a couple of years ago was in relation to the graffiti on this underpass in one of our villages. We arranged, with Network Rail (the underpass goes under a railway line), to have a special paint applied to the walls to stop further graffiti. You can see a small patch of the grey "anti graffiti" paint in the centre of the image.
The 'artists' answer to this action?
They have come back with their own white paint to cover over the anti graffiti paint so that they can spray their "tags" again.
The moral of this story? Never, ever underestimate the youth of today!
