The head swivel

I arrived in Florida about a half hour behind schedule and was swooped up by Hillyblips and her hubs.  We immediately headed to Brian Piccolo Park in Fort Lauderdale where I'd been told that we could reliably find Burrowing Owls.  And we hit the jackpot with not one but SEVEN of these adorable little birds!

I chose this shot because I love the way the owlet is swiveling his head around in that way that owls do, peering directly at me with his big eyes.  It was a totally perfect afternoon.  

We're now settled in for the evening, getting ready to dine on cedar-planked salmon and fresh corn.  Nice bottle of NZ sauvignon blanc.  Good friends.
