Cutting bolts down to size. Didn't solve the problem though - turns out the mount holes inside the wheel arch have had the rubber inserts perish to an extent. So. New plan, dig them out, then fill with a mouldable, drillable, epoxy putty, drill a pilot, and then some new self-tapping screws.

Faff, but probably the best solution, without having to get another new arch. 

At least the new chrome bezels on the indicators and side repeaters were relatively painless, and look fab.
