Nine Ladies
The Nine Ladies is a Bronze Age stone circle on Stanton Moor, Derbyshire. Being Bronze Age, it could be up to 4,000 years old. This is one of only 28 archetypal monuments in England and Wales and as such is considered very important and is owned by English Heritage.
Now, the site is a popular venue for pagan worshippers. The pagan protesters helped fight off quarrying on the moor very recently. In 2008, permission to quarry near the circle was revoked by the National Park Authority.
The pagans leave offerings in the circle and they can be seen also in the trees nearby.
The weather up there today was awful, but you wouldn't think so from the colours on the image. This an HDR image, hence the slightly odd colouring.
