Sakura Matsuri Street Festival
Nice conclusion today to the festivities associated with the Cherry Blossoms in D.C. with the street festival. This was the 59th year that the festival has taken place and today, it drew just under 60,000 people in a five-block stretch of the city. It features four stages (martial arts, traditional arts, J-pop, and a mixture of styles), a children's corner, a science corner, and loads of booths for foods and gadgets -- all related to Japan.
It also draws a high number of 'animés' characters (as featured on my pic), who are always a lot of fun to photograph.
I worked there for six hours, culled down my selections to the 50 required of each photographer (can be viewed on my site) and will return to the other 300 later ;)
Now dinner and a movie :)
