And an update... I'm online again! The router came today and connecting it went really smoothly. :) 
Just the washing machine left to deal with, but when I called my landlord, the woman I talked to suggested that it was extra ampere in a plug that was needed, instead of fixing the washing machine. If that was the case, it would be fantastic!
