Belfast Bound

We flew to Belfast this morning. The flight headed out over the Forth, affording us wonderful views of all 3 bridges.

Once in Belfast, we picked up our hire car and went to the hotel. Too early for checkin, so we left our bags, grabbed some food from Greggs and had a picnic in the Botanic Gardens, which were just a few minutes walk from the hotel. We then bought tickets for the hop on hop off sightseeing bus. I’m not hugely interested in either politics or religion and had only a basic knowledge of the Belfast Troubles. The tour was so interesting though and I was astounded to learn they still lock and close gates at 7pm each evening to segregate the Protestant & Catholic communities. Also got told it’s exactly 21 years today since the Good Friday agreement was signed.

Back to the hotel to check in, chill out and then into the Cuty Centre for dinner at T.G.I. Fridays. Stopped off at the Titanic Quarter on the way back to the hotel for a wander round the docks while it was quiet. Even found a wee boat themed playground which Ethan enjoyed.
