Keys of heaven
Cowslips - Primula veris
Though we're a bit scattered now, our clan has lived in Devon literally forever. Which is why I know that an old Devon name for cowslips is 'keys of Heaven'. So when BobsBlips gave the subject for today's WidWed as 'Heaven/blissful' and I'd been told the cowslips were out at the base of St Catherine's Hill, today's blip was a shoo-in. Mind you, I did miss-time the walk rather and found myself waiting 3/4 of an hour in a chilly wind for the sun to come out. That's why the light is on the strange side, it's only just hit the flowers, but not yet the hill behind.
Thanks so much to BobsBlips for hosting the WidWed challenge..
And for those of you who love wildflowers - and challenges - don't forget the first 2019 WildflowerWeek challenge is now running. Please get your entries in by end of play Sunday, tagged #WFW19_01
Wishing you all a happy evening xx
