The new pictures.
After many years of wanting to replace a picture over our fire place Mr Tbay decided to loosen the purse strings and buy a watercolour to replace the current picture which is a print. After much deliberation and a great deal of internet searching we both decided that Newark on Trent was the place to head for to view a picture or two. We neatly wove this trip into our Annual Spalding Tractor Fair visit which worked really well.
We decided to make an early start which really paid off as it only took just under three hours to get there.
We found the gallery in the very pleasant little town of Newark, and as promised the picture we wanted to view was there, but as often happens when you view in real life you don’t always like it so much! However there was another watercolour of similar age, Victorian, which we very much fell in love with and together with a small very reasonably priced oil we made the purchase! Let’s hope it looks good in its new home!
Then off we went on our way to Spalding. I do love the Lincolnshire countryside which is so different to home. On arrival in Spalding we checked into our excellent Tulip hotel and enjoyed a very lazy evening in preparation for the Tractor fair in the morning!
