The Edge of the Wold

Desert island

In the last couple of years of blipping, I seem to have developed a sense of when the light is going to be unusual. I was sat in the office after lunch feeling increasingly twitchy, particularly as I knew that there would be a high tide in the estuary. I cracked at 1430 and headed for home, feeling increasingly anxious as I was held up by one slow moving vehicle after another and I could see the brightness in the sky gradually waning away.

The first photos I took were on the Sandside prom. The sun had dropped into a gap under the clouds and was lighting them from below, these were then reflecting in the water of the estuary. One of my friendly gulls posed for me.

I went back to what was once the Flippin' Fluke carpark (and a small jetty long before that) to take this one. The light was changing rapidly, and there was greater range of colour. The blip consultant advised me to go with this. The little pine clad hill of Storth above the Ship Inn in this light and with the wide angle looks a bit like a desert island with palm trees.

I did make up for my early departure by working at home in the evening.
