Eye to Eye

Do not live in a Swiss Valley in the Winter.

This is why: the cold air from the mountains rolls down into the valleys and traps the pollution coming from the factory chimneys. This temperature inversion is almost always there in the winter in Switzerland. If you are above it it looks very pretty, a sea of cloud. If you are below it, you are in it, so you don't really notice it.

Sorry if I have disillusioned any Swiss fans out there, but normal " postcard Switzerland" service will be resumed as soon as the weather changes, which I hope will happen soon, today has been really grim. So this brightening in the Valley was a relief to see.
