Disused Culvert

This disused culvert runs under a road near our house and used to be part of the drainage system for a quarry (long since closed) across the other side of the road. If there is any part of the structure on the other side it is not visible as there is a thick hedgerow there.

From the road all you can see is the top row of bricks - at least in winter! In summer it tends to be hidden by vegetation.

The field I am standing in is part of the beck flood plain - the beck itself is about 50 metres away behind the camera!
