Duet

One thing he had learned from playing in a band for nearly four decades was that you didn’t look for permanent relationships outside of music. He had finally broken the habit of marrying women who were more in love with his music than with him.

Another thing that he had learned was that, while the band went on forever, the members of the band were disposable - he had outlasted three guitarists and who knew how many drummers.

The only relationship that had stayed the course was his love affair with his violin.
