Turkey Vulture

...lives only in North and South America, migrating north to our area for the summer
...has no vocal organ (syrinx)
...feeds on carrion that it detects through exquisite eyesight and the smell of gaseous decaying matter
...glides on thermals
...has no natural predators

I am always creeped out by these huge birds with a 5-6’ wingspan. I often see a group lurking in a tree top near where this one was spotted. Although not a full shot, I’m pleased I caught its beady eye.
