A new sculpture for the garden...?
Sadly , no.
Last week I decided that my poor 40ish year old paint-flaking and rusty ironing board had done its duty and I bought a replacement.
Same brand and I put the new one up in the store to test its sturdiness and apparently more modern design and better quality at about NZ$150. Having decided it would do the trick, I loaded it into the 4WD and we brought it home. I put the old model outside the back door on the deck for eventual dumping and after about 5 days (with some difficulty) put up the new model in order to do the ironing.
Smart and unrusty it may be but it was altogether far too springy and with every stroke of the iron , bounced up and down a little and also moved on the wooden floor (on its fancy large new nylon "feet"). Call me "old and inflexible" but I'm reluctant to return purchases, however, this ironing board simply had to go back to the store and Dr D then took the ancient model to the shed and gave it a sandblasting and subsequently 3 coats of spray-on enamel paint. Here she is gracing the garden as the last coat dries before I then dress her up with 2 new layers of felt and a non-stick cover, return her to the ironing board cupboard and her ressurrection will be complete.
Nothing like a happy and willing handyman (retired surgeon) to restore good order and function...and I'm very grateful too : ))
