On The Road - Again

Clare and I were up, showered, dressed, tea and coffee drunk and out of the house by 05:00am.
My little 1.2 Polo was refilled and we headed off, Route 303 cafe just to the east of Honiton for another full English and then on again. Fleet Services, no coffee just a swift change into a shirt and tie before the last leg to St Mary’s Church in Walton-on-Thames.

A sad day saying goodbye to my Aunty Betty, lots of memories but a real sadness as another of my parents generation passes. I have only three aunts left now from an original fourteen aunts and uncles with my Mum and Dad.
A moving service both Janet and Ian spoke well and their Mum would have been proud.

The internment at Hersham Cemeterary was carried out in a cold and windy graveyard with a drizzle soaking those without umbrellas.
Two brothers and a sister with partners took the opportunity for a swift coffee before heading over to the wake and a chance to catch up with family.

All too soon it was back in the Polo and out onto the M3 heading west a coffee and fuel stop at Solstice Services and then on to IKEA at Exeter, collected our free gift then meatballs for dinner before the last stretch home arriving at 10:00pm.

That’s 1,275 miles since Sunday evening for both me and my little Polo.
Shattered doesn’t even come close.
