Coming along nicely
Nell and I had a pleasant walk this morning. It's lovely here, with such an abundance of wildflowers everywhere and such pretty and well-tended gardens in the village too.
The abundance of Cowslips continues, seemingly more with every passing day. The Ladies' Smocks came out last week. Dandelion clocks are now appearing...
Today's new appearances included the Orchids beginning to compete with the cowslips along the roadside ditches and I also spotted some Wood Anemones and my first curling sprout of Bracken. Best of all, the Flags in the lake will soon be flowering. Their cultivated cousins in the village are already starting to bloom.
Elsewhere the Forsythia and Magnolias are going over, though one Magnolia niger is yet to come into full flower. There is also at least one magnificent Camelia blooming.
It is all making my fingers itch to begin planting but I must wait until we have some building work done first.
In Other News, my fury at the way Life Members were treated seems to have been dissipated by time. OAP finances have also eased somewhat - that being so, you will today find an extra upload from our walk. I can't promise to stump up again next year and, to be honest, it does still rankle.
