Like a Hole in the Head

This is my favorite female northern cardinal. I've known her for several years now. I'm not particularly happy about the hole in her head (well, not really a hole in her head, but a featherless patch certainly) but it does have the benefit of being an identifier. So I actually know her, unlike all the other cardinals that are just... other cardinals. When I first saw her - three years ago? Longer? - I assumed she'd get her crest back during her next molt. But - nope! Whatever happened seems to be permanent.
