Last new road blip, I promise.
We have a lay-by. We rarely use it but it is handy for visitors. It was in a rough old state. Week before last the road laying surveyors were out marking up the road with instructions for the asphalt laying crew. We asked if they could do the lay-by too. We would be willing to pay for it. The surveyor was having none of it. It was our responsibility. He was quite unpleasant about it. He marked the road limit with his can of yellow paint. “That's your boundary, that's where we will surface up to.”
Anyway, we knew the asphalt crew were due back to finish the road today. In the meantime someone had gone to Screwfix and bought a can of yellow road marking spray paint (£4.99). Then someone scuffed off the surveyor's original paint marks. Then someone went and re-did them close to our fence. Then someone watched with a great deal of satisfaction as they surfaced a lay-by for free.
Mum's the word.
