Alfaz......without the Pi

Our town is Alfaz del Pi.
Pi means Pine.
For generations there has been a large Pine tree in the Church Square, at the centre of the old town....the first Pine was planted in 1786

Our current Pine was planted in 1949...but like most things, it comes to an end. Pine trees have a life expectancy of 70-80 years.
Today I went to the Church Square, and the Pine had gone.....but a team of gardeners were preparing the site for the arrival of a new Pine.

My Blip is of the Church, the dried out 1949 Pine and the lorry with a crane which was used for the removal.
It’s not my photo... but one that I got from the Town Hall.

Next week, in a civic ceremony.....Alfaz will get its new Pi.
