BARCELONA TRIP 1/3

The start of a demo on Plaza España by those opposed to Catalan independence.

Putting myself into their shoes, I am against separatism for the same reason that I am against Brexit. The opposite of economic integration is economic disintegration.

And who wins in all this? Putin must be laughing his head off at the prospect of major European countries being pre-occupied by all this navel-gazing. We could be making ourselves stronger by keeping our countries together and staying together.

If I were Spanish, I wouldn't be taking part though. The "unionist" cause has been polluted by the far-right Vox, who are at least as toxic as the separatists.
