Premonition

The day started well, a stroll with Gussie down town for breakfast at the ‘Shed’, our third consecutive meal out, before a walk around Pendennis Point to the Princess Pavilions for coffee and cake before home.
A quiet, subdued, afternoon as Josh prepared to travel back, an independent young man he’d opted to fly so as to spend longer at home.
It was the first day of Flybe’s summer service and things did not bode well, the incoming flight was fifteen minutes late due to “technical problems”. The flight was called and Clare and I said our cheerio’s to Josh and made our way home. At the back of my mind was this nagging doubt that Josh would get away.
Sure enough after dithering for two hours Flybe decided that the flight wouldn’t go ahead. For Josh it’s a disaster, military personnel do not have the same lateness luxuries as civilians, being adrift in the military is a serious offence. For Flybe to put on a coach, not due into Heathrow until 02:00 tomorrow morning is simply not acceptable, some onward travel plans have been seriously disrupted.
Anyway I picked Joshua up from Newquay Airport at 8:30pm and as I write it is midnight and we are at Fleet Services on the M3, still two hours away from Chatham.
