Nest

We are in Oxfordshire (the Cotswolds) and while I was out with my camera I was stopped by a passerby.

She pointed out a small nest with a some small eggs in it.
There was no sign of any adult birds but they had been seen and identified.

Not usually seen as far south as this, the bird is the white-tailed Dipintia uovaria

The nest, more a scrape than a traditionally built nest, is in quite a vulnerable position, open to raiding by mammals, foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, as well as other birds and especially young children.

I took the photograph and retreated to ensure their safety.

Hasn't this year just flown by? The first quarter of 2019 has gone and now we are Q2. Gosh it is the First of April already.
