Mummy

I gave this orchid to mum a few years back and after she died it was looking rather sorry for itself. Not wanting it to die, I picked it up and it came home with me...I repotted it and last year it flowered. I am delighted to see, on mummy day, that it is sending out a shoot once again!

I have a new found dislike of Mother’s Day I have to be truthful! When mum was alive, I always saw her but told her it was all just commercial rubbish and I didn’t need a day to tell her how much I loved her and would back that up with sending flowers or picking flowers from my own garden and giving them to her when she least expected it. Today however, I would give anything just to see her at the front door waiting for me with her lovely smile. I long to hug her and give her a huge bunch of flowers, but I can’t but I can try and keep the orchid alive!
