Its the Way It Is

My Irish Mammy

A great carvery lunch in my mammy’s favourite place today to celebrate Mother’s Day.

A full roast beef lunch with all the trimmings (she knows the chef’s mother) so she asks could he also give her an extra slice of turkey and corned beef. No problem Maureen and how are you keeping? Not a bother thanks and how are you Not a bother thanks.

Then we polished off a bowl of trifle each.

This is a busy restaurant/pub and the food and service is good and friendly.

My mother is 95 next month. She lives independently, drives herself everywhere, has good friends and best of all very caring neighbours. Her mind is still sharp and she is interested in everything. She is also great craic.

What we didn’t know was that the place would be full of football supporters as there was a celtic/rangers match on at the same time. So the atmosphere was good.

I had played 3 sets of tennis at 9.30 this morning and after the lunch headed down to Bray for a brisk walk the length of Bray Promenade. So now I need to get my work clothes ready for next week (sigh)

Extra is my mammy and me many years ago

Happy Mother’s Day
