Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Moûtiers

This cathedral is one of the more beautiful sights there are to see in Moûtiers. It's right at the end of a long pedestrian street lined with shops and restaurants and on Tuesdays and Fridays the farmers market is right outside in front of the cathedral, so it's really right in the center of town. It started being constructed in the 11th century and was last worked on during the 19th century, so it's very old! It's connected to what used to be the archbishop's palace. Now the palace houses an archeology museum and the municipal library and has a beautiful public garden in the back right next to the Isère River. This is just the gate and front door, but there is much more to the building than this...a big bell tower, and whatnot. Being American, I should not take living down the street from something this old for granted! There's just nothing like this at home.
