Jay, King of the Chain Saws II

A remarkable man is Jay. Truly one of the last real outdoorsmen.
He just loves logging and is having a great time with our fallen trees.
I've had some lessons and have already blunted one of his prized chain saws.
But he is very kind and patient and says " That's ok, we all went through this at first. "
He showed me how you have to study the tree first, looking for angles, cutting points and points of balance.
On the bottom left is a pneumatic jack that helps keep the tree parallel to the ground. The jack has to be balanced on a wide metal plate so that it doesn't sink into the ground with the incredible weight of the trunk.
