Didn’t expect Mr P to be racing again this weekend but there was a race on in Lancaster this morning where you could sign up on the day so we said, ”Why not?”
Really enjoyable drive over as there wasn’t much traffic and a lot of the journey was on B roads so was very scenic.
Weather wasn’t as sunny as we hoped for, instead it was that flat grey light that makes it hard to get a decent photograph.
The 10k race was out along the River Lune and back on the other side.
Mr P only went and came first in his vet category again, this time we were still around at prize giving and he was given a bottle of red wine and a hat.
As we were near the coastal town of Morecambe l made the suggestion that we went there for something to eat, big mistake.
Not been there for nearly fifty years and time has not treated the place well.
Like many other seaside towns it seems to have lost it’s way as holiday makers now choose other locations for their vacation.
We had a quick walk along the front towards the Midland Hotel which is perhaps the jewel in the crown of the resort.
Could see the restaurant inside was heaving so we decided not to go there but l did get my blip of these cheerful chairs which did put a smile on my face.
Ended up having a really good cup of coffee and a toasted tea cake in a delapidated but authentic Art Deco cafe to put us on for a couple of hours,
Straight back to the car and another enjoyable ride home, stopping at Country Harvest for some great homemade food.
