Release the books

I attended a work event at Chetham's library, the oldest in the English speaking world that was open to the public. It turns 600 in a couple of years. Chetham's main collections were ironically in Latin, French and Greek. This collection of religious texts, unusually in English, was loaned out to a church. Books were precious and were carefully chained to a shelf. These haven't left their enclosure since. Books may have been chained but ideas still flew free.
