Here there and everywhere

A bit of Cairo colour

I needed some colour today on a weekend day when I had to work.

It took me forever to get to sleep last night. 2.30am I think I nodded off. This morning I had to do the TP points (teaching practice points) for the first week for the trainees moving to me on Tuesday to teach the elementary students. This meant skeleton lesson plans for 5 x 40 min lessons and 5 x 60’ lessons, taking us from Tuesday this coming week to Tuesday the following week, ensuring that all the trainees teach a good balance of language and skills, taking into account what they've already taught so far at the intermediate level. Then the paperwork to Cambridge to ensure their certificates down the line have the correct info on them. I then sent an email to our head of teacher training to ask if it might be possible and stress the necessity of my co-trainer and I having a desk and a quiet place to work, away from the chaos and noise of the teachers' room. I get that there are major renovations in the school, but if basic Cambridge course requirements be met, then don’t run a course. Simple. Apart from our need to be able to talk about grades and finish our written feedback after observing lessons in the afternoon before giving feedback 45 mins later, I’m finding it increasingly difficult not to be able to leave something on a desk which isn't a hot desk and actually take advantage of our short breaks during the day. Hence the need to work so much at weekends. We always have to work a bit at home during the weekend on CELTA courses, but not because of the inadequate facilities in school during the week.

I'm fed up with it.
