Oh, what a beautiful morning.....
The sun was bright in a cloudless sky. The morning haze had not yet fully cleared, and dew covered the grass. Sheep grazed nearby and a skylark rose high into the sky, singing its inspirational song. All was at peace, and then the crowning glory; a powerful locomotive burst out of the tunnel mouth in a mass of steam and smoke. It pounded up the line towards us like a fiery dragon, No 61306 'Mayflower', an LNER Thompson Class B1, with day trippers enjoying their bacon and coffee as they sped to Worcester from London Euston. There wasn't much time to compose a shot as it flew past very quickly, and then it was gone. Peace reigned again, and I was home in time for breakfast.
