This is a quilt I made using paper-backed fabric to print photos from my computer. One of the daughters' cats died last year, Larry, so this is the Larry quilt. I have no idea what they will do with it, but it is like a photo album you can use as a blanket or throw.
It's being hand quilted at a local quilt shop, Alma Sue's Quilt Shop here in Sarasota. The women who do the quilting are often Amish snowbirds, just like the other snowbirds who are here in the winter only, except they come down to Sarasota and to the Amish neighborhood here, Pinecraft, in chartered buses from Indiana and Ohio. The women keep track of how many yards of thread they use and that's how I will be charged for the hand quilting. Then it doesn't matter if you're a fast quilter or a slow quilter, you get paid the same rate. They do beautiful work.
Whenever they have one of my quilts to do, I always ask them to call me when they get it into the frame so I can come over and take some photos. Blip done!!!
