This afternoon the woods around Gosford were alive with many different sounds. Trees blew in the wind but the most obvious sounds were of birds. The loudest were the Canada Geese which honked or hissed at any bird which dared approach too close to their potential nest sites. Occasionally there was the splashing sound of mallards or swans as they landed on the water after flying overhead. Moorhens quietly called to each other while above some herons were squawking from their nests high up in the trees and two cormorants called as they kept watch from their perches and woodpeckers drummed on trees. And all around were the melodic sounds of various song birds.
