Diary of an Edinburgher

Henry Hoover

What a fun day! The kitchen is finished, two months later. The lads carried the table back into the kitchen (we have so much room in the lounge now!) before leaving about midday.

The bathroom lads spent most of the day fixing the shower cabinet in place, and the radiator, then cleaning. All rubbish from both front gardens has gone now, to reveal lots of dead plants that have been hidden for weeks.

Once everybody had gone we had a sustained flurry of activity. JR potted up her wee plants, went to buy some plug thingies, then cleaned the kitchen again. I painted the frame of our big painting - that's it (on the newly sanded floor) being painted in the photo. It was never a good paint job, because the artist was setting up a solo exhibition, ran out of time, and had family painting the frames without too much accuracy (NOT when the paintings were in them). So that's a job I've been meaning to do for, oh, about 30 years.

Also painted inside the boiler cupboard, while JR hoovered everywhere with a new addition - Henry Hoover. Archie is even more wary of him than the cordless hoover. Could be that scary face...

And we scored him! Our neighbour found him, checked with all her neighbours, but he didn’t belong to anybody, so she gave him to us. Just what we needed - a Hoover with a suction hose. Our posh cordless one just doesn't cut the mustard for heavy duty cleaning.

Libby took Archie out for a while, but he's going to miss all the chaps coming and going. The electrician tomorrow, so the underfloor heating will be working. AND the first showers will be taken (once all the sealants have dried.) SO exciting!
