Sicilian Adventure - Day 4!
Sunset at Ortigia
Another beautiful day, and a short hop on the bus down the hill to the coast, and to Isola Bella for a visit to the island’s nature reserve, a quick paddle in the sea, and a drink at the beach bar.
Back on the bus and up that very steep and windy road to collect our bags, then back on the bus and back down to the coast again, to the station for a 2 hour train journey to Siracusa, where we were met by our Airbnb host who kindly picked us up from the station and took us to our apartment on the island of Ortigia.
Our home for the next four days is a completely restored studio in the historic and elegant Piazzetta dei Cavalieri di Malta, built in 1500. From the apartment, it was only a short stroll to the Aretusa Fountain where everyone was gathered to watch the sunset. Then as dusk fell and the floodlights lit up the cathedral, it was time for a glass of Prosecco...
